National Service Scholarship Program
One Good Turn Deserves Another

$1,000 Scholarship Program

Overview of the Program
Thousands of students volunteer ev ery day; improving communities and making America stronger. The National Service Scholarship Program is an opportunity for civic organizations such as ours to recognize student volunteers in your community by providing a matching scholarship of at least $500. Don't miss out on this chance to show your support for youth service and help a student go to college.
Here's How It Works
Each high scool in the country is eligible to select one junior or senior to receive a college scholarship of at least $1,000. The Corporation for National Service (AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve America and the National Senior Service Corps) provides $500 per student and a local community or civic organization provides at least $500 of new scholarship money.
How Are Students Selected
The National Service Scholarship Program rewards and encourages activities that have ahd a significant impact in meeting the needs of local communities. Scholarships should be awarded to students who have demonstrated a sustained commitment of at least 100 hours of service in a year. Outstanding volunteers of youth-based organizations are ideal candidates. In collaboration with principals and other school officials, civic organizations may nominate students for consideration. Once the selection is made, the school will contact the partnering organization. Only one student per high school can receive a National Service Scholarship. However, several civic organizations may participate in the match by either increasing the total amount of the scholarship or, in the case of small organizations with limited resources, pooling resources to meet the match.
What's The Deadline

The cetification form must be completed, signed and postmarked no later than June 30th. (Principals whose scholarship certification forms are pstmarked by April 15th will receive the students personalized award certificate shortly after May 15th.
